Folks, this is the “power of Township Council” that all last year I was saying was very extensive, only to be met with raspberries about it.

Mayor Flannery does not have the votes on Council to get the people she wants. That’s why there are the Dowden holdovers.

Township Council gets to say who the administration is comprised of. This was true throughout the twenty years of the Dowden Administration in Bridgewater. And of course it’s true today, in the early days of the Flannery Administration. No one has changed the Faulkner Act.

The problem, of course, is that YOU don’t get to see or hear why there may be issues with some of these very influential, responsible appointments. And if there were TWO parties sitting on the Bridgewater Township Council, you would.
