Sounds like a nice book.

Why Can’t the Democrats Win?

The real reason is that that South, and particularly the Deep South, always votes as a bloc.

When you separate out the 11 states of the Confederacy from the rest of America, you find that America has been a very (Lincoln-style) Republican place, and then a very (I don’t know who) style Democratic one.

It is the South. The Democrats only get in when they pick up enough states in the South. They control Congress when they win enough of the South.

It will be that way until the “moderate Republican voter” of the North wakes up.
