I wanted to post about Gerry Rafferty passing away yesterday, since I am a fan of his music.
Rafferty wasn’t the biggest musician of the late 1970’s, but his hits were big enough of that he was for sure one of the musicians people remember from that time.
I remember Baker Street playing from the Philco AM radio of my parents Ford Granada, sometime in the summer of 1978. The horns (saxophone: Raphael Ravenscroft) and woodwind instruments were very radical and very ’70’s. The long ending seems like musical crying.
From the wiki, I gather that Rafferty had been ill with a liver problem, and it got to a point where he couldn’t beat it.
For those who believe in forever, you know that people will always appreciate the character of his music.
