One last one from my early days in Tokyo.
Kaela Kimura, who is a popular musician tarento (media talent) did a commercial for an economy-sized car called the R2. (I guess the R1 was before I went to Japan.) The commercial is based off a word game where you take the first set of syllables, from a series of words, to make a new expression.
In the short flick, five available colors–of the 11 available for the Subaru R2–spell out “se ma ru shi ka” (approaching deer). So you get the joke, right? She asks, “why
is it are you approaching?”
I never had to use those colors in vocabulary, but they are handy to know. Especially if you know anyone who has an R2.
