WSJ: Ozawa leaves DPJ. You know this is more kabuki.

Story here.

It’s hard to see how Ozawa can play any role but spoiler anymore. He has allied, at one time or another, with every major political faction in Japan. Now that he has finally broken from the Seven Mandarin group within the Democratic Party of Japan, it’s hard to see where he goes next to be of any influence. He must be hoping that his 6% pull in the population will be enough for him to be some kind of coalition partner in the next Diet, which will be autumn 2013 at the latest . . .

[Update 7/2/12: As usual, Shisaku has the angles on this story.]
